Welcome to quantixed, a data analysis blog and web resource. The focus of this site is on quantitative aspects of doing science and cell biology. Occasionally the analysis strays to music or to cycling and running.

Why the strange spelling?

Quantising or quantizing in MIDI is the process of aligning musical notes into even step lengths. Quantitation and quantification are central to science. And this site is about science and music. I thought an unusual spelling might make it easier to find with a search engine. I got the idea from the Ryan Adams song Hypnotixed which is a bonus track on his LP Rock N Roll.

What’s behind the strange post titles?

Post titles are taken from songs in my iTunes library that are tangentially related.

Who is this?

The author of quantixed is Stephen Royle. If you want to find out more about his research, click here. You can find also him on mastodon.
